Lovely touch by him (And other players) visiting that kid having cancer treatment in a photo posted earlier.

Defoe played up with us as a kid, he has been the consummate pro thereafter, issue purely football

That little lad is a heart breaker - fair play Jermain as a mature bloke

It will end in tears, obviously, but his family's tears will also be of gratitude and respect

Some things are above football, I suspect Shanks would have agreed

His stock has risen a lot for me recently, on and off the pitch. Still think he'd be a good acquisition in the summer.

Great goal v Palace turned their centre back on a sixpence ha ha, ok it was Tomkins, but they all count.

He does / always has done a lot more than this behind the scenes and away from the media. There are worse people to target to be fair and I was massive on him being a prick when he left. I know more now.

Fuck Defoe, the little rat cunt.

And by the way he wasn't 'a kid', he was in his twenties.

I'm not bothered about what how Defoe acted all those years ago.

Water under the bridge.

We'd be in the European places if we'd had him for the whole season (and he'd stayed fit).

Regardless of what you say about him, they hours and time he is spending with young Bradley is priceless.

As I have a boy around this young kids age its absolutely gutwrenching and Defoe is acting with absolute dignity and compassion.

You know he will be our marquee signing this summer.
Free transfer if Sunderland go down or a few million quid if they stay up.
He will be what? 35/36? Legs can go in a matter of weeks at that age.

Next level! Welcome back to the days that never left of signing players like Suker, Wright etc

I'd take him as third striker if we don't have to pay anything.

Re: Jermain Defoe has admitted he was flattered by interest from West Ham
Agree with Vexed but as stated, he will come as our marquee signing.

Re: Jermain Defoe has admitted he was flattered by interest from West Ham
Personally I wouldn't have a problem with a marquee signing that is going to get us a goal every other game (as Defoe has consistently).
We've not had a player score more than 10 in the league since 04-05!
Surely he's a better option than another Prem untested Foreign league player or someone making the step up from the Championship. It's not just us that have struggled to find players capable of making that leap.
Would he improve the team? Definite yes

Re: Jermain Defoe has admitted he was flattered by interest from West Ham
Y2, aah better than the untested argument. This is our owners new mantra after previously stating that foreign markets are the place (and easy to crack).

Yes, I would rather have a 35 YEAR OLD Defoe than an untested Drogba, Henry, Ronaldo, Bergkamp.

Apart from when Nolan got 10 in our first season back up you mean?
